I've always been a huge fan of RZA and the Wu-Tang fam, especially the tracks from the Afro Samurai soundtrack. I heard this song and had to make my version of it. Barbie Hatch, whom I have never heard of before, really made me want to get creative with this song. Oh, and i killed it on the RZA verse. I hope everyone enjoy's my remix, I only did one and I made it a banger!

Chuck Mosley will rap over hard rock for food September 8, 3:37 PM Charlotte Indie Music Examiner Steven DiLodovico
“The joke is on me,” Chuck laughs while explaining the explosion of imitators that have since gained notoriety after following his lead. “I was sitting around one day listening to the radio with some friends of mine and they were like ‘thanks a lot, Chuck’ and they weren’t saying it in a positive way. They were thanking me derisively for all the crap that’s on the radio. If I had a dollar for all the stuff that made it to radio…”
Hence the title of Chuck’s latest output: Will Rap Over Hard Rock for Food. The style he made famous over Faith No more songs like “We Care a Lot” and “Chinese Arithmetic” is back on display as the seasoned Mosley (who also had a stint leading the seminal Bad Brains) returns to show the rest how it is done.
“We actually started working on this record in 1996.” Problems with the recording arose, causing Chuck to lose a lot of money in the process and in the end, instead of coming out with a full-length album, he was handed what he calls “barely a demo.” Help was enlisted in the form of producer Michael Seifert who had previously worked with artists like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Fountains of Wayne.
“Mike was the producer at the time and he felt really bad about the way I had been cheated. He even apologized and pledged to do whatever it took to get the record done. What it took was for Mike to get his own studio together and take control of the project. I was very happy to finally get it done and to get out on the road again.”
With a new, upstart label behind him (the Cleveland-based Reversed Images Unlimited) and a new band supplying the beats and riffs (Vanduls Ugenst Allliderasy), Chuck is back at it. This time he’s enlisted some pretty heavy hitters to accompany him. Korn’s Jonathan Davis (who cites Mosley as a huge influence) was tapped for a spot on Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food’s lead single “The Enabler.” Faith No More’s Roddy Bottum, John 5 (Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson) and Michael Cartellone (Lynard Skynard) all make appearances on the album as well. Fellow label-mate Leah Lou also appears on the mellow, almost-acoustic track “Nameless.” There is definitely a diverse feel throughout the album with styles ranging from the Rap/Rock hybrid Mosley has been know for to more straightforward Pop-Punk sounds (“Punk Rock Movie”) to bombastic Alt-Rock anthems (“Tractor”) and everything in between. Not much has changed as far as Chuck’s vocal stylings and delivery are concerned. Listeners will easily recognize his very distinct voice from the moment he opens his mouth.
“Well, I learned how to sing in tune, that’s one thing. I started caring about how I sounded. Playing with the Bad Brains taught me that. Those guys were always tight and it forced me to take things a little more seriously as far as my singing went. When I first started with Faith No More I never had the intention of being the singer, but once I was kind of thrust into that position I came up with the style I used back then and even still today. I’ve gotten a lot better, but once in a while you will hear me miss a note, especially if it is live and I can’t hear myself,” he says, laughing. “But I like my voice now.”
The one constant theme that will draw listeners (both old and new) is Chuck’s ever-present sense of humor.
“With this record, I want to make sure people don’t take me any more seriously than I take myself. I definitely want people to get it, I guess. The world is so messed up; there’s already a lot of doom and gloom out there that I can’t even address it. I just wanted to do something that didn’t have to be taken so seriously. My personality is the same way: I don’t take many things seriously, that’s the way I’ve always been.”

Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food
(Reversed Image)
Reviewed by : Martin Popoff
Rating : 8.0
Impossibly, Chuck once fronted Bad Brains, but he is most notorious for his big-mouthed ranting all over the first two Faith No More albums, pointedly, Introduce Yourself, which is a vaulted classic known for pioneering the genre known as rap metal. An amazing record that is, and this new one is actually, astonishingly, similar in joie de vivre, creativity, even rhythmic metal-ness, and of course the awesomeness of Chuck. Now residing in Cleveland, nonetheless Chuck got some cool guest stars involved, namely John 5, Roddy Bottum, Jonathan Davis and Skynyrd drummer Michael Cartellone, who flew in and grooved it out in two days. Face it, you thought this could or would suck, but it is actually very much like a very good old Faith No More record, with pounding rhythms, soul-replenishing melodies, humour, surprise structures, even a gorgeous guest female vocal (he told me her name – I forget… on his label!) on ‘Nameless’ a gorgeous little acoustic campfire track. Highlights are the relentless and plodding ‘Tractor’ plus ‘Punk Rock Movie’ which is like Bob Dylan meets The Clash, but seriously, it’s a pretty rocking record, dimensioned with Chuck’s cool vocals which go a laconic (ha ha – world weary, right?) Kevin Moore route once in a while. Hey, I guess you’d call it stoner rock, really, but effortlessly hip like a Brant Bjork or Josh Homme joint. Oh yeah, and there’s pretty much zero rapping (over hard rock for food).

Chuck Mosley New Album!
CHUCK MOSLEY’S WILL RAP OVER HARD ROCK FOR FOOD
Former Faith No More Vocalist’s New Solo Album
~August 11, 2009~
New York, NY—Rap and Rock music, though viewed through the public lens as worlds apart, are not as distant from one another as they seem. The energy, aggression, and valiant spirit make them the perfect vehicles for unabashed expression, and rap-rock veteran Chuck Mosley realizes this. He is the embodiment of the unification of these two musical forces, as well as the various musical influences he has accumulated as both an artist and an avid music fan. On August 11, he releases his first solo album Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food via Cleveland-based label Reversed Image Unlimited.
Mosley’s return with Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food showcases the Godfather of rap-metal seamlessly blending rock, hip-hop, metal, punk and funk. Recounting his previous work, Mosley, as he describes it, would “rant to the beat.” On his latest effort, Mosley’s musical stew combines this approach with an exploration of his vocal range. It’s apparent that he chose to let his amalgam of cultural saturations melt into this new album, which he describes as “just very normal for me.”
Will Rap… was produced by multi-platinum award-winning producer/engineer Michael Seifert (Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Fountains of Wayne, and most recently Reversed Image electro-rockers THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!). Featuring guest appearances from a cast of characters Chuck has affectionately deemed Vanduls Ugenst Allliderasy, John 5 (Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson), Roddy Bottum (Faith No More, Imperial Teen), and Michael Cartellone (Lynyrd Skynyrd) all contribute to the record. Korn frontman Jonathan Davis (courtesy of Warner Bros. Records), who attributes Mosley as a massive influence, also makes an appearance on the lead single “The Enabler”.
In the 70s, Mosley was just a kid growing up in Southern California with no limitations on his tastes in music. A musical sponge, he studied classical piano for 10 years, while soaking up influences from jazz, rock, pop, and early rap. Eventually signing on to front Faith No More, he crafted these influences to pioneer a whole new take on heavy music. Bringing the rhythm and raw emotion of rap vocals to the riff-laden, chaotic-nature of rock, Mosley became an innovator which many musical acts would emulate, including Korn, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, and Kid Rock. He would later front legendary hardcore/reggae group the Bad Brains as well.
On July 28th – August 10th, fans will be able to pre-order Chuck Mosley’s Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food CD Online at www.ReversedImageUnlimited.com .., and receive a personally autographed CD, plus completed download and a special edition postcard.

THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN! "Love Kills," CD Review
Reviewed by Jade Baird
The debut album from This Is A Shakedown! is a new mix of rock and industrial techno. Being a new band straight from Cleveland, Ohio, their sound is original compared to the mainstream bands with radio hits out there. Using keyboards and voice synthesizers, as well as their creative mixing of vocal tracks and programming, they create an electronic sound that that would work at both dance clubs and rock concerts. Brandon Zano's vocals are melodic and have a nice falsetto to reach higher notes that emphasize the trans-pop that stands on its own in a genre-bending way. The guitars also add a layer to the mix, creating a punk influence on the style of each song. With their jumpy, electro vibes and lyrics of girls, cravings, and clubs, this band is more teen and youth targeted. They have used the internet (myspace and facebook) as a way of getting their music to the audiences' ears. This new way of music marketing has a huge influence on the industry and has gotten many bands' sounds out there, including This Is A Shakedown!
On the CD, the song "Radio" has a message of lust and desire for an idol (and possibly musician) that he hears on the radio and can't get out of his mind. The song has an enchanting melody, with symbols, guitars, and a piano piece to top it off. The lyrics talk of how his "obsession starts to grow" and how it "just keeps getting more hard core." The last verse of the song breaks down and becomes aggressive, as if playing along this the singer's urge to forget his infatuation. Its ends with a calm piano bit that simulates peace, as he has dealt with his feelings and seems to have learned how to forget her. A more industrial sounding song, "Oh!" uses a lot of effects to create a more underground feel. A constant synthesizer pulsates throughout the piece, making a new electro rhythm that entrances the listener into a head-bobbing, foot-tapping reaction. The vocals are also remixed so they repeat themselves in the chorus. As the song tells of a boy getting a girl he wants, the music acts as the storyteller as it beats with the conviction the boy uses when speaking of the girl. The first single off the record, "Circles," has the same industrial, indie rock sound, with clanking noises and voice synthesizers.
The song "My Funny Valentine" has an instrumental hook of drums and string arrangements. With the whispering vocals overlapping the haunting music, it creates a spell-binding story of an overwhelming love and how a girl wants to change herself to be everything for the boy she loves. This song, as its sound, is different from the others because it’s slower, soothing, and more powerful with its message. For a band with a distinctly different style, this song sticks out as the most unique on the record.
This new band definitely has a premise and understanding of today's developing market for a techno-industrial style. Their sound can relate to more than one genre, and thus, be included in more scenes, bringing in more fans. Both rockers and radio-friendly music fans can enjoy the sounds of the keyboard, synthesizers, and steady drums as they listen to This Is A Shakedown! Teens, club-goers, and internet music junkies will be happy with this new taste of a different type of music experience
Stephen Nicholson Of THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!
Hello, everybody, my name is Stephen Nicholson. I grew up in the city of Cleveland Heights, a suburb east of Cleveland, Ohio. I guess you can say that I became interested in drumming around the age of nine. It was a human’s ability to create rich and complex rhythmic textures—with the mind and the four limbs of the body—that intrigued me from the get-go.
To start off, my parents bought me a practice pad and drum lessons to see if drumming was something I would actually want to pursue. When they realized that I was swept away by the idea of playing a drumset, they bought me a snare drum (not exactly what I had in mind, but I guess they needed more proof). It was only after three years of urging and wreaking havoc on their Tupperware (setting it up around my snare drum to imitate a full set) that they purchased the real deal. It was the happiest day of my life (well, at least to a twelve-year-old).
Within the first year of high school I realized that developing my skills was a definite must. I was blown away and intimidated by the wealth of talent that lingered in the halls and classrooms of the Instrumental Music Department at Cleveland Heights High School. Luckily, I met Kurt Tietjen (my ex-brother-in-law) in that first year. Earlier, he had been involved with the Canton Blue Coats of Drum Corp International. I was immediately transfixed by the abilities he acquired from the long hours of practice that one must endure to perform at that level. I considered DCI to be the apex of potential for any young person interested in playing percussion instruments.
Following our chance meeting, Kurt apprehended my desire to improve my snare drum technique. So he pummeled me with a barrage of intense instruction and countless hours of practice, which catapulted my skills to new heights. (Anyone wanting to excel on the drumset should immerse themselves in snare drum studies to develop speed, strength, and technique. Trust me; it’s to your advantage.) Due to the drastic improvement in my playing, I was upgraded to snare drum in the school marching band by my sophomore year. In the two years that followed, I was appointed head percussionist (which was a painful experience, being in charge of a bunch of knucklehead teenagers), earned a position in the orchestra, and played for the school jazz band. I was exposed to a lot of really good drummers during that time, such as Dennis Chambers, Billy Cobham, Tony Williams, Dave Weckl, and Neil Peart. It was definitely a very stimulating period in my life that had a huge impact on shaping me as a performer heretofore.
Throughout my twenties I played in a number of bands, covering an assortment of musical genres like rock, hip-hop, freeform, metal, avant-garde, instrumental, and so forth and so on, but the sine qua non of that decade was when I discovered Meshuggah’s drummer Tomas Haake. His knack for polymetrics defied anything I had ever heard before. He seemed to reach beyond the instrument, forcing the evolution of drumming itself. A steady diet of Tomas was a powerful catalyst in expanding my horizons and altering my approach to drumming altogether. It was extremely liberating, dwelling in the moment, unchaining the soul, and allowing music to swirl around turbulently through my mind, body, and drumset. During that time I evolved on many levels, inculcating in myself a deeper and wider sense of direction, purpose, and capacity for creating music.
Today, I play in the band This Is A Shakedown! We’re a heavy-hitting, high-energy rock outfit that incorporates dance/electronica influences into our music. We’re signed to a label called Reversed Image Unlimited, which is based out of Cleveland, Ohio. Michael Seifert is our producer and also the man that signed us to the label. Tracking drums with Michael was definitely a unique experience. He decided to set up four completely different drumkits in Studio B of his recording studio, Ante Up Audio, miking all of them at once, so we could bounce around from one kit to another without the hassle of breaking down and setting up every time we wanted to get two different tones for each song. I think there were about thirty-eight tracks dedicated to recording drums for the album (yee-haw!). We proceeded to do some pretty wacky things, like layering multiple kits on songs, tracking the drum and cymbal parts separately to isolate the sounds and then manipulate them into drum-loops using whatever plug-ins were at our disposal, recording cymbal parts in half-time in order to speed them up over the course of the track, and recording drums in other rooms to capture ambient noise. So, I would say the drums have a lot of personality on this record! The CD is titled Love Kills. Y’all should check it out. Peace!

New York, NY (May 5, 2009)On May 5, Cleveland-bred electro-rockers THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN! will release their debut studio album Love Kills on Reversed Image Unlimited. They recently released a music video for Circles. At first glance of Circles, one might notice that the band is surrounded by the glow of laptops. The video was recorded via Apple Mac Books Photo Booth - the same program most users utilize to dilapidate their face for their MySpace page. This has created a whole new kind of artistic expression, courtesy of THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!Filmed at Ante Up Audio in Cleveland, it took 21 borrowed Mac Books to create this masterpiece, which was directed and edited by Bryan Porter of Enigma Digital Media. The result is nothing short of stunning. However, due to the intense strobe effects, this video would unlikely be played on television (it comes with a warning for those with epilepsy or vertigo). With its sonic visuals, fast pace, and vibrant use of color, Circles is the perfect eclectic, creative complement to THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!s unique music.

~Hits Stores May 5, 2009~
New York, NY—It’s dirty, decadent, delicious, and danceable. It’s uncontrollable, uncontainable, and about to launch itself out of your speakers. Get ready to get catapulted into musical chaos, 'cause THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!
Barreling out of the Cleveland music scene, this fresh new music act took a plethora of influences and made a hot, steamy, gumbo of a record that is boiling out of the pot. Taking pieces of industrial, punk, metal, goth, techno, R&B, and dance music, this electro-rock band is releasing their debut album Love Kills on May 5 through Reversed Image Unlimited.
Launched in 2008, THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!’s Brandon Zano (vocals/guitar), Daniel Lee (bass/synth), Stephen Nicholson (drums), and Justin Nyilas (keyboards/programmer) blend wild electro-groove with heavy rock. Known for notoriously riotous live sets, THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!’s music gets your blood pumping, your heart pounding, and your body shaking. Tracks like “Circles,” “You Make Me Wanna,” and “Can’t Stop” are instant sparks, electrifying dance floors and charging the psyche to remember those groovy hooks. They even took Frank Sinatra’s “My Funny Valentine” and transformed it into a slinky, sexy ballad suitable for a punk rock prom.
Multi-platinum award-winning producer/engineer Michael Seifert is at the production helm on this project. Seifert tapped producer/engineer Sean Beavan (best known for mixing and producing music by Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, System of a Down, and Slayer) to mix the album. Digging into these ground-breaking roots, Seifert and Beavan bring that dark magic to THIS IS A SHAKEDOWN!’s already unique sound.
All around, Love Kills is a mash-up, mind-trip album busting at the seams with energy and innovation! It’s on the way to a stereo, dance hall, or punk club near you. Prepare for the SHAKEDOWN!
